Biosun manager and his pet therapy dog Benji

Biosun assumes the responsibility of becoming actively engaged in helping the local community and others nationwide. Our employees are very involved in creative volunteering efforts throughout the Tampa Bay area, which Biosun encourages by allowing them to help choose the charitable organizations we eventually support. One example is a Biosun manager, Cary Gould, who with is wife Jill and their pet therapy dog Benji volunteer at local hospitals.

Well, in their 2011 Readers' Choice survey, their readers picked Givaudan as the best (ranked #1) in the Beverage Flavors category. Sweet taste is not simply about the amount of sugar

Givaudan, the giant in the flavor industry, reported it will increase its investment in its TasteSolution health and wellness program. This responds to increasing demand from consumers for food products that are healthy but also taste great.

Givaudan's global product manager for sweet goods and dairy explained that achieving desirable levels of taste and sweetness "is not simply about replacing or reducing sugar."

Fiber- A Solid Ingredient

Researchers from the National Cancer Institute in Rockville just released a new study examining the relationship between dietary fiber intake and mortality from specific causes. They were able to conclude that dietary fiber intake significantly lowered risk of death in men and women. More specifically, fiber lowered the risk of death from cardiovascular, infectious, and respiratory disease by 24% to 56% in men and 34% to 59% in women.

Superfruit flavor trends for 2011 include Aquaje, Borojo and Cherimoya


Aguaje

This fruit comes from a palm tree that is native to swamps and wet areas in South America. Its sweet flavor is most popular in ice cream, wine, juice and jam.


Borojo

This fruit grows from a tropical tree that is native to Colombia and Ecuador. It's sour and sweet taste is most often found in jam, wine, and desserts.


Cherimoya

This superfruit grows from an evergreen shrub that is native to Ecuador, Bolivia, Chili, Peru, and Colombia. Mark Twain once described it as "the most delicious fruit known to man." It is commonly used in hot sauce, ice cream and other various desserts, and wine.
